Golden Eagles Fall to St. John Fisher in Rochester

Rochester, NY – The Golden Eagles fell, 11-6,  to the St. John Fisher Cardinals Wednesday in Rochester. Brockport turns to 19-16 overall on the season and remains 6-9 in the SUNYAC conference.
 
Starting on the mound for the Green and Gold was Anthony Lapine. Lapine pitched 1.2 innings, letting up five hits and six runs across the 11 batters faced. St. John Fisher struck first scoring seven runs in the bottom of the second inning. 
 
Brockport scored two runs in the top of the third inning. Jason Mansell got hit by a pitch, followed by a walk from Logan Wing. Josh Indek singled to the shortstop batting in Mansell. Wing moved to third. Frank Vanzillotta singled up the middle batting in Wing and helping Indek advance to second. Both Vanzillotta and Indek were left on base. 
 
Brockport scored three more runs in the top of the fourth. Mansell was once again hit by pitch followed by another walk from Wing. Indek doubled into left field batting in both men. Vanzillotta doubled in Indek for the fifth run for the Golden Eagles but was left on base. 
 
Fisher scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth extending the lead to 9-5.
 
Brian Tietjen led off the top of the fifth inning with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. TJ Strevell flied out to left field on a sacrifice fly that brought home Tietjen for the lone run of the fifth inning. St. Josh Fisher scored once again in the bottom, extending their lead 10-6. They scored their 11th and final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. 
 
Robert Caeners pitched 0.1 of an inning letting up one hit, one run and one walk while striking out one batter across the four batters faced. Pierce Mehigan struck out four batters, let up three hits, three runs and one walk across the 2.0 innings pitched and 10 batters faced. Brendan Pajak pitched 2.0 innings striking out three batters, letting up three hits, one walk and no runs across the 10 batters faced. Connor Furst pitched 1.0 inning, striking out one batter, letting up one hit and one walk across the four batters faced. Tim McClare ended the day on the mound striking out one batter and letting up one hit across the three batters faced. 
 
Brockport will return to the Clark V. Whited complex on Friday afternoon at 3pm for their annual Hometown Heroes event. Followed by a noon doubleheader celebrating their senior class for senior day!
