Ice Hockey Heads to Rutland, VT for Terry Moran Invitational Action

BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Ice Hockey team will compete in the Terry Moran Invitational Tournament in Rutland, VT, beginning with a non-conference matchup with St. John Fisher on Friday, November 28th at 4 PM. The Golden Eagles will take on Vermont State Castleton (1 PM) and Lebanon Valley College (4 PM) on Saturday. 

Last Outing: The Brockport Ice Hockey team scored a top 15 victory at home, downing #15 Chatham, 2-1, on Saturday, November 22nd. The Golden Eagles

The sophomore duo of Kaleb Miller and Aidan Taylor powered the Brockport offense, adding a goal each. 

Andrew Haugh led the Green and Gold in blocked shots once again, stopping a team-high three shots. 

Sacha Trudel (8-13) and Manny Sanchez (11-17) led the way in the face-off circle, winning over 55% of their face-offs.  

David Filak (W, 2-2) was strong throughout for Brockport, allowing just one goal with 25 saves on the afternoon. 

Leading the Charge: Manny Sanchez and Nick Reif have been invaluable to the Brockport offense, leading the squad in multiple statistical categories. Sanchez has been a key distributor, leading the team in assists (5) and points (7) through eight games. Reif has played at a point per game pace through six games, leading the Green and Gold with four goals through six outings. 

Between the Pipes: Splitting time in net with Dax Easter, David Filak has been very effective to begin the season for Brockport. Starting four games for Brockport (2-2), Filak holds a strong 92.3 save percentage, making 131 saves to just 11 goals allowed (2.76 GAA). Filak ranks third in the UCHC in saves per game, making over 32 saves per outing.

Scouting St. John Fisher: The Cardinals have thrived in their first season of Division III competition, holding a 5-3 overall record with a 2-2 mark in UCHC play. The Cardinals are coming off a 5-2 loss against Albertus Magnus last Saturday, with Friday's meeting marking the first between Brockport and St. John Fisher. 

Scouting Castleton: The Spartans hold a 3-4-1 record, coming off a 9-5 conference win at UMass Dartmouth last Saturday. The Golden Eagles have fared well against the Spartans, holding a 3-1 edge in the head-to-head series since 2015.

Scouting Lebanon Valley: The Dutchmen currently sit at 3-5 on the season, defeating Alvernia in a pair of contests last weekend (5-3, 3-2). Brockport has dominated the head-to-head series, going 10-0 against Lebanon Valley since 2007. 

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will head to Elmira College on Friday, December 5th at 7 PM.
