Brockport, NY- The
#25 Brockport baseball team defeated Houghton on the road, 10-2, on Tuesday, April 1st. The Golden Eagles moved to 15-2-1 overall and 3-0 in Empire 8 play.

Zach Eldred (W, 4-0) led Brockport with a terrific two-way day, tossing seven innings of one-run baseball with eight strikeouts. At the plate, Eldred smashed two homers, going two for four with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Eldred would start the game hot, ripping a solo home run to right field to put Brockport up 1-0 in the top of the first.

Following a scoreless second inning, Houghton would plate two runs in the bottom of the third go jump ahead 2-1.

The Golden Eagles would explode for eight unanswered runs, plating three in the sixth inning. Brockport would take advantage of Houghton's miscues, scoring two runs off an error and an Eldred steal of home to go back ahead 3-2.
Ryan Leniec would come through with a two-out RBI single to score
Jason Story, extending the lead to 4-2.

The seventh inning saw
James Dixon come through with a two-RBI single to extend Brockport's lead before Eldred would leave the yard for his second home run, putting Brockport up 8-2. Dixon would strike again in the eighth inning, plating
Alan Michael LeFrois with an RBI double.

Nick Mahar's RBI single in the eighth inning would round out the scoring for Brockport, cruising to a 10-2 win.

James Dixon (2-2, 3RBI) and
Kyle Blake (2-4, 2B) provided two hits each to power the middle of the Brockport order.

Troy Leibert (1.0IP, 1K) and
Thomas DiGirolomo (1.0IP, 1K) preserved the win for Brockport, not allowing a baserunner between the eighth and ninth innings.
