Oneonta, NY – The Brockport Golden Eagles picked up a big sweep in E8 play against Hartwick on Saturday afternoon. They beat the Hawks, 7-0, in game one and finished the set with a, 12-1, victory in game two. Brockport is now 13-19 overall with a 5-13 conference mark.
Brockport 7, Hartwick 0 – Game 1 Final
Colleen Davis (W, 6-9) gave up just one hit and set a new career-high with nine strikeouts in a game-one win. The freshman picks up her second career shutout for the Green and Gold, going the full 7.0 innings with no walks.
At the plate, Brockport had four players with a multi-hit performance on the way to 12 hits in the contest.
Olivia Simone was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Aubrey Ennis went 2-for-4 with a triple, one run, and one RBI.
Riley Barrett provided a 2-for-3 outing and one run scored.
Grace Talbut was 2-for-3 as well with one run and one RBI.
The Golden Eagles also saw a double from
Paige Wentland, who went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Caitlyn Dailey was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
Kellie Gentile was 1-for-3 with a stolen base, while
Jackie DuTot was 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter.
Brockport scored in the top of the first thanks to Wentland's RBI double. In the top of the third, a 1-0 lead turned into a 6-0 lead for the Golden Eagles. They saw RBIs from Wentland, Talbut, and Dailey on the way to a 5-run inning. Ennis provided the team's final run with an RBI single in the sixth to score
Natalie Faas for the 7-0 final.
Brockport 12, Hartwick 1 – Game 2 Final
After a 12-hit showing in game one, the Green and Gold came back with 13 more hits in game two.
In the leadoff spot,
Kellie Gentile had an impressive showing offensively going 4-for-4. Gentile did it all with two doubles, one triple, stole three bases, scored two runs, drew a walk, and had one RBI.
Paige Wentland stayed hot at the plate with a 3-for-4 outing that included a pair of doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Jackie DuTot scored three runs in a 2-for-3 effort and she swiped a pair of bases.
Aubrey Ennis (2-4) and
Grace Talbut (1-2, 2 RBIs) both hit doubles and scored a run in game two.
Natalie Faas was 1-for-1, with three walks, two runs scored, and two steals.
The Golden Eagles scored one run in the first, two in the second, one more in the third, and four more in the fourth. They would hold on to a commanding 8-1 lead going into the sixth. Brockport would keep Hartwick off the board, apart from a solo home run in the second. The squad put the final nails in the coffin with four runs in the sixth to end the game early.
Fiona Gibiser (W, 3-3) picked up the win in a strong effort as the game two starter at pitcher. She went the full 6.0 innings, allowed one run on three hits, had three walks, and set a career-high with nine strikeouts.
Brockport is back in action on the road once again on Sunday for another Empire 8 doubleheader. The Golden Eagles will take on Russell Sage for a 1pm start out in Albany.
