#25 Baseball Dominates Elmira 15-3, Competes Three Game Home Opener Sweep

Brockport, NY- The #25 ranked Brockport baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Elmira, defeating the Soaring Eagles 15-3 in game three on Sunday, April 6th. The Golden Eagles improved to 18-2-1 overall and 7-0 in Empire 8 contests.
 
Ryan Peters (W, 3-0) was excellent throughout, allowing just two baserunners across six innings of work with a career-high 10 strikeouts.
 
Zach Eldred provided another excellent performance, going three for three at the plate with four RBIs and a run scored.
 
Eldred opened the scoring for Brockport in the first inning, ripping an RBI double to extend his record-breaking hit-streak.
 
The Golden Eagles would add three more runs in the second, with Victor Alongi, Frank Vanzillota (2B), and Eldred (2B) providing RBI knocks.
 
Up 4-0 entering the bottom of the fourth, Brockport would begin to run away from Elmira. The Green and Gold would plate six runs in the inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Eldred (2RBI), Kyle Blake, and Victor Alongi (2B, 2RBI).
 
With a 10-0 advantage, the Golden Eagles would round out their scoring in the fifth inning, plating five more runs. DJ Stoianovich opened the scoring with an RBI double, followed by RBIs from Chris Martin (2RBI) and Timothy Venditti.
 
Elmira would get on the scoreboard with three runs in the seventh inning, but the Golden Eagles would pick up the 12-run win in seven innings.
 
Ten different Golden Eagles would record a hit or better, with eight Brockport players posting an RBI on the day.
 
Jason Mansell (2-4, 2R), James Dixon (2-4, 1R), Josh Index (2-3, 2R), and Victor Alongi (2-3, 3RBI) all posted two hits in excellent individual efforts.
 
Frank Vanzillotta led all players with four runs scored, adding an RBI and reaching base safely four times (2-2, 2BB).
 
Up Next: Brockport will host St. John Fisher on Monday, April 7th at 3:30 pm.
