Brockport, NY – The wrestling team finished up the WPI Quad Meet in Worcester, MA, strong, bringing home two wins on the road.
Brockport vs. Southern Maine - (W, 40-10)
The Golden Eagles faced Southern Maine to start the day, finishing with a strong 40-10 victory.
At 125,
Trevor Middendorf picked up a 20-4 tech fall win at 3:32 into the match.
Mason Mangialino had a dominating performance in the 149lb division, pinning his opponent at 2:45.
At 157 lbs,
Tyler Rossini fought hard for a 20-5 tech fall win.
Max Morrison followed suit in the 165lb division, finishing his matchup with a 19-3 tech fall victory.
Gavin McLaughlin was up next at 174, showing out with a major decision of 14-2.
At 184,
Avery Bustamante earned points for the Golden Eagles with a strong pin just 2:50 into his matchup.
Simon Lingle pinned his competitor at 197 in a quick 2:14.
Finishing out the day with a 7-1 decision to bring home the victory for Brockport was
Mike Welsh at 285lbs.
Brockport vs. New England College (W, 51-3)
The Green and Gold had another strong outing in their second matchup, taking the 51-3 dominating win over New England College.
Trevor Middendorf made a strong effort, pinning his opponent at 125, 7:36 into the match.
At 133,
Jonathan Guyette earned a set of free points for Brockport by forfeit.
Alex Smith also earned himself a pin at 141, at a quick 2:38.
In the 149lb division,
Mason Mangialino secured a pin in his match just 1:54 in.
Tyler Rossini earned himself a 17-1 tech fall win at 157, 3:55 into the competition.
Max Morrison had a day in the 165lb division, taking the 16-1 tech fall victory at 3:08.
Finishing out the 184lb match with a 19-4 tech fall win was
Avery Bustamante at 2:34.
Simon Lingle earned his second pin of the day at 197, 4:29 into the matchup.
Yet again,
Mike Welsh finished out the day strong for the Golden Eagles with a pin at 2:15.
Brockport finished out the day with a tight loss, falling to Worcester Polytechnic Institute 22-20.
