BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport men's and women's cross-country teams will head to Letchworth State Park for the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo on Friday, October 16th. The men's race is scheduled for 12:45, with the women's race slated for a noon start.
Empire 8 Sweep
The Golden Eagles swept the Empire 8 weekly awards after a strong showing at the Highlander Invitational.
Jace Stuart and
Ethne Degan each earned Empire 8 Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors after leading their respective teams at Houghton.
Stuart paced the men's team, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:01.3 to earn a top-three finish overall. His standout effort led the Brockport men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish out of 13 competing squads. Degan did much of the same for the women's team, crossing the finish line in 22:17.4 to secure a fourth-place finish overall and leading her squad to a first-place finish out of 13 teams with 64 points.
Last Week
The Golden Eagles delivered strong performances at the Highlander Invitational from Houghton last Saturday, seeing Brockport's women's team earn a first-place finish. The Golden Eagles men's team finished fourth out of 13 schools.
Madison Kirkpatrick had a breakout performance for the women's team, finishing ninth overall in 23:07.5 to give Brockport two top-10 finishers (Degan). A trio of Brockport freshmen added strong outings, seeing
Resse Roberts (16th, 23:36),
Grace Kosmoski (18th, 23:43), and
Jaelyn Jordan (21st, 23:54) all cracking the top-25. Sophomore
Natalie Heselton crossed the line in 24:09.8 to finish 27th overall, while junior
Salvatrice Piccolo placed 29th with a time of 24:14.1 to round out Brockport's top seven.
Behind Stuart, Junior
Brady Ruediger was the next Golden Eagle to finish, placing 16th overall with a time of 25:46.6. Sophomore
Sam Faga followed closely behind, taking 19th place in 25:56.0. Junior
Thomas Canestrari added another top-25 finish for Brockport, crossing the line in 26:07.9 to place 22nd overall. Senior
Caleb Belanger finished 46th with a time of 26:45.6, while junior
Kyle DeRomanis recorded a 49th-place finish in 26:53.9 to wrap up the socring for Brockport.
Mike Woods Invitational
The Golden Eagles return to the Mike Woods Invitational for the first time since 2024.
The Geneseo Invitational has run for 43 years, with 23 of those under the guidance of legendary SUNY Geneseo Coach Mike Woods. In 2024, the men's team finished seventh out of 33 teams, with the Brockport
women's team finishing
in 13th place overall.
