BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Ice Hockey team (9-14, 5-8-1 UCHC) will head to #10 SUNY Geneseo (16-6-1, 11-3 UCHC) on Friday, February 20th at 7 PM. The Golden Eagles will host #10 Geneseo to close out the regular season on Saturday, February 21st at 7 PM.
UCHC Outlook: Despite a setback at Nazareth last Saturday, the Golden Eagles have secured their spot in the UCHC Tournament, competing in the Play-In Round on Wednesday, February 25th at 7 PM. Brockport will head to the #3 seed, currently held by Chatham, which will be decided after UCHC play is finalized on Saturday.
Leading the Pack: With two games remaining in the regular season, the Brockport freshman core has led the way.
Nick Reif (8G, 9A) and
Kyle Kussmann (4G, 13A) lead the way with 17 points each, with Kussmann leading the Green and Gold in assists. Reif is tied with fellow freshman
Brody Seitz and assistant captain
Schuyler Flansburg for the team lead in scoring with eight goals.
Manny Sanchez has also been strong for Brockport, scoring three goals in his last three outings, holding six goals and nine assists on the season.
Strong Rating: Three Golden Eagles have played to a positive rating on the season, with
Brody Seitz,
Schuyler Flansburg, and
Andrew Haugh holding +3 ratings. Haugh has been willing to sacrifice the body throughout the season, blocking 13 shots on the year. In addition to excellent goal scoring (8 each), Seitz (8BLK) and Flansburg (5BLK) have both been overall assists on the ice for Brockport.
Scouting Geneseo: The #10-ranked Knights currently sit in second place in the UCHC, winning six straight games. Geneseo completed a sweep of #9 Utica last weekend, defeating the Golden Eagles at home, 5-2, back on February 8th.
