Brockport Continues to Swim Fast at E8 Championships

Webster, NY – Following the third day at the Empire 8 Swim & Dive Championships, the Golden Eagles continued to medal and set school records. Brockport also maintained hold of second place on the women's side with 523.5 points and third place on the men's side with 474 points.
 
The evening session started with Matt Cole, Liam Farrell, Joe Keeney, and Zander Benz make history in the men's 200-yard medley relay. The squad placed third to take the bronze with a new school record time of 1:35.23.
 
Up next the Golden Eagles saw their women's 200-yard medley relay team take silver. Anna Lowe, Lindsey Spitz, Maddie Erhardt, and Skylar King teamed up for the second-place time of 1:48.39.
 
Erik Parkes and Drew Wekar both earned a spot on the podium in the men's 200-yard butterfly. Parkes placed fourth, while Wekar came in seventh for the event.
 
Varshana Ramgulam and Miya Vitale also hit the podium for the women's 200-yard butterfly finals. Clocking in at 2:17.94, Ramgulam took third place and the bronze medal. Vitale was right behind in fourth place with a time of 2:19.22.
 
The trio of Patrick Power, Matt Cole, and Conner Berger all stepped on to the podium by placing sixth, seventh, and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke.
 
In the women's 100-yard backstroke finals, Anna Lowe split the silver medal with Geneseo's Maya Marcyan. Both finished at 58.26 in the race. During the preliminaries, Lowe's time of 57.52 was good for a new school record.
 
Lauryn Ball also made her way on to the podim in the 100-yard backstroke. With ati me of 1:01.09 she placed sixth in the finals.
 
Moving over to the women's 100-yard breaststroke, Lindsey Spitz narrowly missed out on the bronze medal. She placed fourth with a time of 1:08.45, just .05 behind the third-place finisher. Teammate Addy Martino finished at 1:09.45 to place sixth and earn a spot on the podium.
 
In the diving well, Brenden Jardin-Reed had another medal-worthy performance. This time on the 1-meter board he once again claimed silver. He posted a final score of 494.35.
 
For the men's 800-yard freestyle relay, Brockport would add more hardware and more history. Erik Parkes, Anthony O'Leary, Alex Nicita, and Carter Lundin placed third with a school record time of 7:08.66.
 
On the women's side of the action, the 800-yard freestyle relay team placed fourth and were less than one second behind the third place team. Hannah Ramos, Sarah Colwell, Skylar King, and Varshana Ramgulam clocked in at 8:01.38 to earn their spot on the podium.
 
With just one last day left the Golden Eagles look to keep its momentum going, as they chase more hardware and school records to close out the E8 Championships.
