Winter Haven, FL – On Wednesday, the SUNY Brockport softball team split its pair of contests at the DiamondPlex Softball Complex. With a 5-4 win over UW-River Falls to highlight the day, Brockport moves to 1-3 early on in the season.
Brockport 5, UW-River Falls 4 – Game 1 Final
To start off the day, Brockport put together its best hitting performance of the young season with 12 hits.
Colleen Davis went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Aubrey Ennis also hit a double, going 1-for-2 with three walks and one RBI.
Maeve Brannigan knocked in a pair of runs for the Golden Eagles with a 2-for-4 outing at the plate.
Caitlyn Dailey matched her teammate with a 2-for-4 showing. Both
Reagan Myers (1-4, 1 run) and
Lila Lovgren (1-2, 1 run, 2 walks) each recorded one RBI.
To go with a great day at the plate,
Colleen Davis (W, 1-1) also picked up her first win of the season as Brockport's starting pitcher. She went 4.1 innings with three strikeouts, allowing just one earned run.
Freshman
Liana DeValder was credited with her first collegiate save, finishing out the final 2.2 innings. She allowed just one earned run on two hits, striking out two batters with no walks in a close game down the stretch.
Brockport 1, NYU 25 – Game 2 Final
The NYU Violets had an explosive offensive performance to run away with game two of the day. They scored 13 runs in the first two innings on the way to a 5-inning victory over the Green and Gold.
Brockport is back at it once again on Thursday at the DiamondPlex Softball Complex. The squad is scheduled for an 11am matchup with Plattsburgh State and a 1:15pm tilt against Wellesley College.
