Brockport Falls on the Road Against Geneseo

Geneseo, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Geneseo Knights on Tuesday in E8 play. Brockport moves to 13-15 overall with a 9-7 mark against conference opponents.

Brockport 0, Geneseo 1 – Game 1 Final

Liana DeValder and Geneseo's Gabriella Petroski went at it in a pitcher's duel in game one that saw just one run scored. DeValder (L, 7-5) delivered a 6.1 inning performance that allowed just one run on five hits. Petroski (W, 10-3) also gave up five hits in a complete game shutout for the Knights.

Leadoff hitter, Natalie Faas was 2-for-4 in the contest with a pair of singles. Saylor Ayers went 2-for-3 and Erin Dougherty was 1-for-3.

The game was scoreless through six, thanks to great pitching and defense for both teams. In the bottom of the seventh, Geneseo broke that tie with a walk-off victory. With a runner on second, Brooke Fraas hit an RBI single to steal the win.

Brockport 0, Geneseo 6 – Game 2 Final

The Knights took momentum from a game one win and put up a pair of runs in the second inning of game two for an early 2-0 lead. Brockport was held to just two hits in the contest, while Geneseo added four more runs to secure a game two win, 6-0.

Natalie Faas was 1-for-3 at the plate, hitting in the leadoff spot once again. Paige Wentland matched her teammate with a 1-for-3 effort.

Makenna Hart (L, 2-4) started game two for the Golden Eagles on the road. She went 5.0 innings, allowing four earned runs in a loss. Colleen Davis pitched the final 1.0 inning of the contest.

The Golden Eagles return home this weekend for Senior Day on Saturday, April 25th. They welcome Hartwick College for a 1pm start to the E8 doubleheader. Brockport is home again on Sunday to face Russell Sage for another 1pm start time.
