Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles have now won four straight after sweeping Hartwick at home on Monday in conference play. Brockport remains in fifth place in the Empire 8 Standings, improving to 17-15 overall and 13-7 in E8 play.
Brockport 11, Hartwick 0 – Game 1 Final
Brockport mercy-ruled Hartwick in the first game of the day, exploding for nine runs in the first two innings to get the game started. The Golden Eagles added two more in the fourth for good measure.
Colleen Davis (1-2, 3 RBIs) started the party with a 2-run triple.
Caitlyn Dailey (2-3, 2 RBIs) brought in a run with an RBI single. Then it was
Paige Wentland (2-3, 2 RBIs) with her own single to score a run to finish off a four spot in the first.
Erin Dougherty scored on a squeeze bunt from
Julia Hill in the second to kickoff a 5-run inning. Davis and Dailey both recorded RBIs just like in the first inning.
Saylor Ayers (2-2) hit an RBI double, before Wentland's second RBI single of the day. Brockport scored two more in the fourth, thanks to hustle from
Lila Lovgren and an RBI double from
Reagan Myers (1-3).
Liana DeValder (W, 10-5) pitched the full 5.0 innings, earning her 10
th win of the season in shutout fashion. She had four strikeouts, no walks, and allowed just one hit in a dominant performance from the circle.
Brockport 5, Hartwick 2 – Game 2 Final
Colleen Davis (W, 5-4) got the start at pitcher in game two, going the full 7.0 innings in a winning effort. She allowed just one earned run on five hits, striking out four batters with one walk.
Hartwick got on the board first with a run on a passed ball in the third inning. Brockport got the bats going later in the fifth and sixth inning to take control of the contest.
Isabella Moya scored the team's first run, before
Liana DeValder (2-2, 2 RBIs) connected for an RBI double.
Reagan Myers brought a teammate in to score with a sac fly to left field. An RBI double from
Natalie Faas finished off the inning, giving Brockport a 4-1 lead.
In the sixth, it was DeValder once again making it happen with another big swing. She hit an RBI triple to right field that scored the insurance run for Brockport. Hartwick did score one run in the seventh, but the Hawks didn't have enough in the tank to rally back.
Brockport softball will conclude the regular season at home on Thursday, April 30
th against Alfred University. The E8 doubleheader is set for a 3pm start at the Clark V. Whited Complex.
