Fillmore, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team improved to 4-0 in conference play after a strong sweep over Houghton on the road Saturday. The Golden Eagles dominated game one, 20-1, and then pulled out a close, 6-5, victory in game two.

The Golden Eagles scored a pair of runs in the first and four more in the second to take a quick 6-0 lead to start the doubleheader. Then the bats exploded with 14 runs in the fifth inning, making it a blowout win for Brockport 20-1.

Liana DeValder (W, 3-2) got the win as the starting pitcher in this one. She pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits with eight strikeouts.

The offense was outstanding for the Golden Eagles, tallying 20 runs on 12 hits which included six extra-base hits. Both aggressive and patient at the plate, Brockport also drew 10 walks.
