Brockport, NY – The Brockport Men's Soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 2-1 regional victory at RIT on Tuesday, September 1st. Two Golden Eagle goals in the opening 26 minutes and excellent team defense secured the win for Brockport.
On the first shot of the contest,
Khadim Amar would connect just 2:10 into the first half to put Brockport ahead early. Klye Milburn recorded his first point as a Golden Eagle, with Milburn and
Peter Tinaj each adding an assist on the Amar tally.
Dominating in the free kick department in the opening 25 minutes,
Ryan Mathis would double the Brockport edge at the 25:29 mark. Mathis would bury an unassisted goal to help the Golden Eagles take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Brockport's defense contained the Tigers in the first half, holding RIT without a shot on goal in the first 45 minutes.
The Tigers would find life in the second half, holding Brockport without a shot on goal and creating multiple scoring chances.
AJ Nelson would come up big between the pipes, making three saves early in the second half to keep Brockport up by two goals. Despite a RIT goal cutting the lead in half with 21 minutes left, the Tigers would be unable to create another scoring chance.
The Golden Eagles made the most of their chances, scoring on both of Brockport's shots on goal.
Ryan Mathis led the shooting effort with three shots, including what served as the game winning goal.
Greg Ramin,
Parker Warren, and
Max Maouris all played 90 minutes for the Green and Gold. Joel Jamie,
Matteo Burbige, and
Arthur Barrozo-Fernaine all added a shot off the bench for Brockport.
