Scott Horsington joined the College at Brockport Swimming & Diving coaching staff in 2011.
A graduate of Fredonia, he was a three-time NCAA All-American, three-time SUNY Conference champion, two-time SUNYAC Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award winner, an Academic All-American, and the 2007 recipient of the Dr. Sam Molnar Award and SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. He is an Athletics Hall of Fame inductee for SUNY Fredonia (2016), Churchville-Chili Central Schools (2024), and the 2018 and 2024 SUNYAC Women’s Diving Coach of the Year.
Under Horsington’s guidance, Brockport divers have rewritten the record board, producing 3 NCAA All-Americans, 4 NCAA Championship competitors, 3 NCAA Championship alternates, 13 NCAA qualifiers, 2 Conference Champions, and 17 SUNY Conference Top-3 finishes.Â
At the 2018 SUNYAC Championships, senior Meghann Kilgallon captured the first Conference title of Horsington’s tenure. Kilgallon would go on to win Brockport’s first-ever SUNYAC Diver of the Year award and be selected for the 2021 SUNYAC All-Decade team. That same year, Gabe Arias secured the first-ever All-America finish by a male athlete in program history, and was quickly matched in this achievement by Matt Merchant the following year.Â
In 2024, Kyra Russ became the program’s first-ever two-time SUNYAC Diving Champion, earning SUNYAC Outstanding Diver of the Meet and Diver of the Year honors. Russ would go on to be named Brockport’s 2024 Female Athlete of the Year.
