Before Brockport
Dumaw served one season (1998) as assistant at Brockport before being appointed head coach. He was also coach of the highly-successful Rochester Rebels U18 Junior Olympic team for four seasons, compiling a record of 209-36 with 14 tournament titles and a third-place finish in the 1996 World Tournament. Dumaw compiled an incredible record of 1,136 wins and 208 losses as a pitcher in men’s major fastpitch for more than 30 years. Dumaw’s lifetime sanctioned stats include 122 no-hitters and 24 perfect games. His career culminated with his election to the New York State Amateur Softball Association (NYSASA) Hall of Fame (1990) and the USSSA National Hall of Fame (1993). His extensive coaching career includes stints at Gates-Chili High School and Rochester Institute of Technology.

Emphasizing Academics
During his time at Brockport Dumaw he has coached two College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District selections. Dumaw has seen 33 of his players named to the NFCA Division III All-America Scholar Athlete Team.

Under Dumaw's Guidance
In his 22 years at Brockport Dumaw has coached 52 all-conference players, with ten First-Team selections and one Player of the Year selection. In 2008, he coached two Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region team for the Northeast Region. In 2022 he added another All-Region selection, as Cameryn Duggan earned second team honors.

All Decade Student-Athlete
In 2020, Stephanie Geer '11 was named to the SUNYAC Softball All-Decade team. Geer, a dominant pitcher for the Golden Eagles ('08-'11), was a four-time SUNYAC All-Conference selection. She was an NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete and a Capital One Academic All-American First Team selection.  She was also a three-time NFCA All-Region selection and an ECAC Upstate All-Star during her time in the green and gold.
 

The Golden Eagles under Dumaw have won at least 20 games in 15 of the last 17 campaigns. Dumaw broke the all-time wins record at Brockport with his 378th career win on May 1, 2014 against Geneseo on the opening day of the SUNYAC Tournament. Dumaw picked up his 400th career victory on March 11, 2016 in a 5-0 victory over Edgewood College. 

The 2013 team clinched the program's first SUNYAC regular season championship since 1997 as the Golden Eagles posted a 15-3 conference mark. Brockport swept rival Cortland to clinch the regular season crown and earned the right to host the SUNYAC Championship at the Clark V. Whited Complex. Brockport tied a school record with six players on the all-conference team, including first teamer Julie Arnold who was also honored by the NFCA with a second team all-region selection.

Brockport won 32 games in 2010, setting a new school record and the veteran coach posted the old record of 30 wins in 2001. The Golden Eagles have had 28-win seasons three times (2002, 2007 and 2009) under Coach Dumaw. In 2009, he was voted the SUNYAC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career.

A pitching expert, Dumaw continues to be involved with a number of clinics and camps every year. Dumaw is a 1965 graduate of Mohawk Valley Institute of Technology and a 2003 graduate of The College at Brockport.
