Senior Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after tying her own school record and winning two events for the women’s indoor track and field teams at the Golden Eagle Invitational on Saturday.

Competing at the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC), Jones tied her own school record in the shot put event with a distance of 12.89 meters (42’ 3.50”). The mark was good enough for the top overall performance at the meet. Jones finished 1.40 meters ahead of the second place finisher as Brockport swept the top three spots in the event.

Jones also took first place in the weight throw event with a distance of 15.74 meters (51’ 7.75”). The Golden Eagles also took the top three spots in the weight throw event.

Jones, a seven-time Brockport Female Athlete of the Week, currently ranks first in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) in both events. Jones is 10th nationally in the weight throw and 19th in the shot put.

Jones and the Golden Eagles will travel to Colgate University on Jan. 26 for the Class of 32 Invitational.
