Senior Nicole Jones (West Charleton, NY/Galway) set the school record in the shot put over the weekend at the Brockport Invitational leading the Golden Eagles to the team championship as she not only won the shot put competition but also took top honors in the weight throw for Brockport. For her efforts, Jones earns The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the third time this year.

Jones won the shot put with a school record throw of 13.27 meters (43’ 6 ½”) on her second attempt. She also posted a throw of 13.22 meters which also eclipsed the previous school record distance with her third attempt. In the weight throw, Jones won the event with a throw of 16.09 meters (52’ 9 ½”) and had two throws in excess of the 50-foot distance.

Jones is currently ranked 16th in the country in the shot put and is 12th best in the country in the weight throw.

Jones and the Golden Eagles will travel to Baldwin Wallace for the Mid-February Meet in Ohio. The Golden Eagles will send a split squad to both the Baldwin Wallace meet and the Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
