Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) helped lead the women’s gymnastics team to its top score of the season at Rutgers on Saturday. For her efforts, Sylvestro has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week.
Competing against three Division I opponents, the Golden Eagles recorded a 188.750, its best mark since the team scored a 190.800 at last year’s Brockport Invitational.
Sylvestro posted two career-best scores on the day to lead the Golden Eagles. The sophomore scored a personal best 9.500 on the uneven bars, the second highest score by a Golden Eagle at the meet. Sylvestro also provided a career-best on the floor exercise, scoring a 9.750. Sylvestro’s previous career-high on the floor was a 9.675 set on Feb. 2 of this year.
Sylvestro also scored on the vault for the Golden Eagles, posting a score of 9.450.
Next up for Brockport is the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships hosted by Cortland on March 10 at 1:00 pm.
