Junior women’s swimmer Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Raven-Coeymans-Selkirk) has been chosen as The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on February 23.

Melewski shined at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships this past weekend. She helped the Golden Eagle women’s swimming and diving team break 15 school records, including a SUNYAC record and finish in sixth place overall.

Melewski's strongest performance came in the 100-yard breaststroke during preliminaries. The junior finished in first with a time of 1:05.07, breaking the SUNYAC meet record and the school record, as well as earning an NCAA "B" Cut. In the finals, Melewski finished in first again with a time of 1:05.09, just shy of her record breaking time in preliminaries.

Melewski also recorded a school record and NCAA “B” cut in the 200-yard breaststroke. Other records broken included the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard IM.
