Senior Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 8. Melewski broke several pool records during the three day Fredonia Invitational.

Melewski won both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke races with record pool pace. In the 100-yard race she beat the old record in just under a second with her time of 1:06.24. In the 200-yard event she beat the old pool record by more than a second, finishing the race in 2:26.07.

Melewski also had a hand in three pool relay records falling over this weekend as she and her relay teams won the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle. The 200-yard freestyle relay record was bettered by more than a second with Brockport’s time of 1:39.41. Brockport and Melewski finished the 200-yard medley relay in 1:50.53, which set the new pool record and outpaced the second finishing team by more than a second. Melewski and her Golden Eagle teammates set the new Fredonia pool record for the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:36.92, which was close to five seconds faster than the previous standing record.
