SUNY Brockport Athletics

Junior Amanda Rota (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 9. Rota led the Brockport’s Gymnastic team to a second place finish at the Big Red Invitational hosted by Cornell University.

Rota got the team off to a strong start when she scored a career-best 9.525 on the bars, Brockport’s top score during the event.

Rota then followed the bars with a great performance on the balance beam.  Her score of 9.675 tied for second amongst the competition and was the top Brockport score. Rota's beam score of 9.675 was also a career best which was second only to a Division I opponent.

Overall Brockport finished second at the Cornell meet with a score of 189.425, narrowly missing out on topping Division I Cornell University while finishing ahead of Division II Southern Connecticut and nearly six points ahead of Ithaca.

The Golden Eagles travel to Ithaca for the Harriet Maranca Invitational on February 15 with the competition beginning at 1 pm.
