Kayla Barber has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12. Barber was the leader in the Golden Eagle attack for the volleyball team as it went 4-0 on the week including three victories against State University of New York Athletic Conference opponents.

Barber finished the week with 63 kills in 145 attempts, posting a strong .303 hitting percentage over 13 sets played. She nearly averaged five kills per set on the week!

Her best overall match came against SUNYAC foe Fredonia in which she led the Golden Eagle offense with 19 kills but was also a key contributor on defense with 10 digs as well. Brockport needed four sets to beat the highly competitive Blue Devils and Barber’s skills were on full display as she led the team with 52 attack attempts.

Brockport has a single match on the road this week versus St. John Fisher on Tuesday before hosting the Golden Eagle Invitational Friday and Saturday. Hilbert College, Fisher, Potsdam and Alfred will all be in attendance. Brockport will face both Hilbert and Fisher on Friday at 4 and 8 p.m. respectively before continuing the tournament on Saturday with matches at 11 a.m. against Alfred and 3 p.m. versus Potsdam.
