Junior Amy Nowak (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) belted her first career collegiate home run to help The College at Brockport sweep a Saturday afternoon softball doubleheader from Potsdam. Nowak is Brockport’s Female Athlete of the Week.

With the Golden Eagles trailing Potsdam 2-0 in Game 1 of the doubleheader, Nowak, an infielder/outfielder, hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game. Brockport’s bats would explode for two more runs in the second and one in the third to take a 5-3 lead. The Golden Eagles (19-9 overall, 5-5 SUNYAC) went on to win Game 2 6-4.

For the week, Nowak hit .545 (6-for-11) with three runs scored and a .909 slugging percentage as the Golden Eagles went 2-2. Nowak had a double, drew a walk, stole a base and accounted for a team-leading 10 total bases in four games.
