Building Sustained Success
Over his 16 years as Brockport's head coach, Dunne has proven the team to be a consistent contender for the SUNYAC Championship.  His teams have reached the SUNYAC tournament in every season and have won the conference championship three times. With Dunne as head coach, the Golden Eagles have made four appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Most recently the 2020 squad made it as far as the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After a year away the team came back in the 2021-22 season to make an eighth consecutive appearance in the SUNYAC Semifinals. On the way to another SUNYAC Tournament run, Dunne surpassed 250 wins for his career at Brockport. The program then made a ninth straight trip to the SUNYAC Semifinals in 2022-23, before the postseason came to an end in the conference championship game.

Setting a New Standard
Following the 2020 season, Coach Dunne was named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year and he was listed among D3 basketball's 50 most impactful head coaches. Brockport finished the year with a record of 26-3 overall and the Golden Eagles were undefeated on their home court. The 26 wins ties the second highest single season total in program history. Earning 17 wins in conference play is a program-best, since the league made the switch to 18 conference games a season in 2009. With their last loss coming on January 10th, the Golden Eagles rattled off 19 consecutive wins to tie the all-time program record. After a spectacular year Gregg Dunne was named the USBWA Rochester Area Coach of the Year and NABC Division III East Coach of the Year.

Before Brockport
Dunne, who joined the coaching staff as an assistant in 1999, had been the lead assistant coach for The College at Brockport program for eight seasons before taking over the head coaching position for the 2007-08 season.

Hall of Famer
The 1999 graduate of Nazareth was a four-year starter for the Golden Flyers and is among the top all-time assist leaders for Nazareth. He was voted the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year and was a Second-Team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-American as a senior. For his accomplishments at Nazareth, the College inducted him into the Athletic Hall of Fame on April 18, 2008.

Under Dunne's Guidance
In his 16 years as head coach, Dunne had coached 32 all-conference players, with 17 First-Team selections, four SUNYAC Rookies of the Year, two SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year, and one SUNYAC Player of the Year (John Ivy, 2014). Dunne was named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2020. He has coached two All-American players.
