Glen Young

Glen Young

Glen Young was hired as The College at Brockport football team's defensive coordinator in the spring of 2013 and promoted to Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator in 2014. Young spent 13 years playing professionally between the NFL and the CFL along with six years of coaching experience at multiple levels.

In 2013, Young led a young Brockport defense that produced three of the best single-game defensive performances in the six-year history of NJAC competition. The Golden Eagles held conference opponents Kean, TCNJ and Montclair to a combined total of 10 points on consecutive weeks near the end of the season. The defensive unit also held Waynesburg to just 12 points in a 19-12 ECAC Northwest Bowl Championship.

Colby Morabito and freshman Cortland Haines each earned First-Team All-NJAC honors while Kharif Pryor, Anthony Bianchi, Tarik Bennett and Jake Brickler were also All-NJAC selections. Morabito was also an All-Region selection and Haines was selected to participate for Team USA in a Summer International tour.

Young was a standout player for the Syracuse Orangemen in the late 1980's and early 1990's as a four-year letterman, team captain and a two-time defensive MVP selection. He earned All-Big East and All-American honors in 1992 and ended his career #9 on the all-time tackles list at the school. After graduation, he was inducted into the Syracuse Walk of Fame and was picked as a member of the All-Millennium Team for Syracuse.

Following Young's college career, he played four years in the National Football League, starting off with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1993. Young moved on to the Buffalo Bills before finding a home in San Diego with the Chargers. Young was a member of the Chargers for three seasons and served as special teams captain. The Chargers reached the playoffs all three seasons, winning the AFC Championship in 1995.

After a brief stint with the Seattle Seahawks, Young took his talents to the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League as a player/coach. Young spent the next eight seasons in the CFL, winning two Grey Cups with the Edmonton Eskimos.

Young then began his career as a full-time coach, taking an assistant coaching position at Hempfield High School in Greensburg, Pennsylvania before enrolling in graduate school at Michigan State University where he served as a graduate assistant coach for the Spartans.

In June 2008, Young began his collegiate coaching career at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, serving as the team's special teams coordinator, linebackers coach and head strength and conditioning coach. Young helped lead the Tigers to a 41-9 record during his tenure and had the No. 1 overall defense in 2009.

Young and his wife, Gina have two daughters, Brittany and Brianna
