Scibilia's Career Rushing Day Can't Rally Football

Joe Scibilia rushed for 186 yards and scored three TDs in 56-45 loss to Buffalo State

The College at Brockport scored a season-high 45 points, but the Golden Eagles still fell to New Jersey Athletic Conference and I-90 Thruway rival Buffalo State 56-45 in the 2010 season finale Saturday afternoon on Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in Brockport.

Sophomore quarterback Joe Scibilia (North Tonawanda, NY/Starpoint) rushed for a career-high 186 yards and scored three touchdowns on the ground, and added 100 passing yards for Brockport (2-8 overall, 2-7 NJAC), which fell behind 28-7 and was never able to comeback.

Led by Scibilias career rushing day, the Golden Eagles racked up 318 yards on the ground. Junior tail back Alex Hendrickson (Unadilla, NY/Unatego) added 116 rushing yards and scored Brockports first TD, a seven-yard run in the first quarter that pulled the Golden Eagles within 14-7.

Buffalo State tacked on two passing touchdowns to take a 28-7 lead before Brockport staged a rally. Senior Adam Erickson (Jamestown, NY/Falconer) had a five-yard TD run, sophomore E.J. Genzano (Albany, NY/Guilderland) tacked on a 17-yard field goal and Erickson added a three-yard TD run as the Golden Eagles trailed only 28-24 early in the third quarter.

But the Bengals scored on two TD passes to close out the third with a 42-24 lead, and despite Scibilia scoring on three TD runs in the fourth, the Golden Eagles lost the I-90 Cup to Buffalo State for the first time since 1999.

The Golden Eagles managed 318 rushing yards and 418 total yards of offense and went seven-for-seven on red-zone chances against the Bengals (4-6, 4-5 NJAC).

Senior Nate Bull (Brockport, NY/Brockport) made a career-high 22 tackles, including six solo stops, and finished with 148 tackles, two shy of the single-season school record, shared by Blase Salomone (1988) and Steve Cook (1990). Junior Alex Hayes (Fulton, NY/John C. Birdlebough) and sophomore Jim Carlson (Port Henry, NY/Moriah) each added 10 tackles for Brockport.
