Desiree Fauvelle (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley) scored 13 points, but The College at Brockport's women's basketball team saw its two-game winning streak snapped as Brockport fell to Cortland 67-46 Friday night inside the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.
Fauvelle connected on 3 of her 7 three-point attempts, but Cortland shot a blistering 16 of 29 (55.2 percent) in the first half to take control with a 38-19 lead.
Freshman
Alex Leung (Merrick, NY/W.C. Mepham) added nine points and five assists and sophomore
Sarah Alwardt (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) snared a game-high nine rebounds for the Golden Eagles (4-10 overall, 2-5 State University of New York Athletic Conference). Brockport lost despite owning a 43-34 edge in rebounding.
Junior
Trisha Lampi (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) buried her only three-point shot against Cortland for her first made '3' of the 2010-11 season. Another Fauvelle '3' capped a 14-5 run midway through the second half, but the Golden Eagles couldn't get any closer.
Cortland, the second-place team in the SUNYAC, used a 21-3 first half to seize control for good against Brockport.
The Golden Eagles return to action with a 2 p.m. clash against Oneonta (6-8, 3-4 SUNYAC) Saturday afternoon inside the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.
