Junior Kyheem Green (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) scored 25 points despite being plagued by foul troubles, and sophomore Gerald Williams (Rochester, NY/Charlotte) added 23 points, but The College at Brockport's men's basketball team suffered a 74-71 loss to Oswego Saturday afternoon.

Green, who picked up his fourth foul with 9:52 to play, scored 25 points on 11 of 18 shooting and Williams added 15 after halftime as the Golden Eagles (7-8 overall, 5-3 SUNYAC) rallied from a 50-37 second-half deficit inside Brockport's Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.

But Oswego (11-3, 7-1 SUNYAC) made its final 12 free throws to remain in first place in the SUNYAC. The Golden Eagles are tied for third with New Paltz in the SUNYAC.

“We kept fighting back and fighting back, and we overcame a 13-point deficit,” said Greg Dunne, Brockport's fourth-year head coach.

“We know we can play with any team in our league, we beat Plattsburgh, we could have very easily beaten Oswego tonight, I expect a battle when we go to their place, too. Everybody's just jockeying for position for the SUNYAC tournament … to see how good of a position we can get for the tournament.
There's going to be bumps in the road, we just have to keep our focus.”

Saturday marked Williams' fourth straight game scoring 20-plus points, while Green, who transferred to Brockport from Sullivan County Community College, has scored 10-plus points in all 15 games for the Green and Gold.

Trailing 37-31 at halftime, junior Kazeem Are (South Orange, NY/Columbia) converted a three-point play to pull Brockport within three before Oswego responded with a 13-3 run to take a 50-37 lead with 12:18 remaining.

Sophomore E.J. Parry (Lynbrook, NY/Long Island Lutheran) and Williams each buried three-pointers and Green scored on back-to-back possessions as Brockport clawed its way within 55-47.

Sophomore Derek Klein (Valley Stream, NY/Long Island Lutheran) snared an offensive rebound and found Green for a layup that trimmed the Oswego lead to five, 62-57 with 5:59 left to play.

After Oswego hit a pair of free throws, Williams answered back with a '3' that got Brockport within 64-60. Oswego hit two more free throws before Klein swished a jumper, then off a missed Oswego layup, senior Zack McTigue (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) snared the rebound and hit Klein for another jumper s to trim the deficit to just two, 66-64 with 3:35 left.

McTigue stole the ball and after missing a shot, Are grabbed the offensive rebound and hit the layup to tie the score at 66-all. After a pair of Oswego free throws, Green converted another three-point play for a 69-68 lead, Brockport's first lead since 3-2.

In the first half, Brockport led twice early on, but Oswego bounced back, and held leads of 12 points on two separate occasions.

Williams hit back-to-back three-pointers to draw Brockport within six. Following a steal, Green threw down a slam dunk to get the Golden Eagles within four, 30-27. Klein hit another three to pull the Golden Eagles within two, 31-29, but Oswego answered back with a 6-2 run to close out the half.
