Senior Dan Brigano (Utica, NY/Proctor) won the three-meter diving with a score of 307.35 points to set a personal-best and also eclipse the NCAA Division III national qualifying standard for The College at Brockport's swimming and diving squad against Alfred University Saturday afternoon inside the James. B Fulton Natatorium.

Brigano's score of 307.35 is the first time he has ever eclipsed 300 points on the three meter for six dives. His previous best was 292. Brigano also won the one-meter (298.65 points), surpassing the national qualifying standard in the one-meter.

On Monday, Brigano was honored by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) as its Male Diver of the Week.

“I don't even know what to think,” Brigano stated after his performances. “I'm very proud of myself to do that. Records are meant to be broken…but as far as me breaking the record, I obviously wasn't trying to break it I was just doing my three-meter dives one by one, and just seeing where it went after that.”

Brockport sophomore Chris Austin (Naples, NY/Naples) scored a 280.20 in the one-meter dive, also qualifying for nationals. Austin's score in the one-meter was three points off of his personal best.

The Golden Eagle men fell to Alfred 136-99 while Brockport's women lost to Alfred 136-98.

“My teammates and I push each other, we are competitive against each other, but in a good way,” said Brigano after the meet, “We all fully want to win the meet, but at the same time we're very happy with each other and the way that we compete.”

For the women, senior Maria Quagliana (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) won both the one-meter (243.30) and three-meter diving events (257.55).

Sophomore Sarah Eisenmenger (North Rose, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) won the 200 free in 2:09.34. Eisenmenger used a final 25-yard time of 32.39 to clinch the win over Alfred, her second 200 free win this year.

Freshman Amy Jessmer (Albion, NY/Albion) and Brockport's 200 free relay team also won, as Jessmer, freshman Paige Whitney (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford), freshman Erin Luke (Latham, NY/Shaker) and Quagliana swam in 1:47.57.

Sophomore Chloe Macdonald (Williamsville, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy) won the 500 free (5:40.81) and, along with freshman Denise Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy), freshman Liz Grillo (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and Eisenmenger, earned a second place finish in the 400 medley relay (4:37.03). In the 1,000 free, Whitney swam in 11:52.19, a full ten-second improvement.

For the men, sophomore Nathan Dubois (Mendon, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) finished second in the 50 free, finishing 0.1 seconds out of first place. Dubois also was second in the 100 free (51.08) while senior Rob Cornish (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) finished in second in the 200 free (1:52.75).
