Bobby Ross (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) scored the game-winning goal in the first half at New Paltz as The College at Brockport men's soccer team defeated the Hawks 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Brockport (6-3-1, 3-1-0 SUNYAC) earned its third conference win of the season, rebounding from Friday's loss at Oneonta. With the loss, New Paltz (5-6-1, 1-2-1 SUNYAC) dropped below the .500 mark.
The Hawks out-shot Brockport 17-11, but only three New Paltz shots were on goal, compared to five for the Golden Eagles.

Aubrey Brown (Marathon, NY/Marathon) cross in traffic to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. Ross made his third shot of the day count, scoring his second goal of the season.
“It was a total team effort out there today,” head coach
Gary LaPietra said. “I'm very proud of the way the guys played. They really rebounded well from Friday's game.”
The contest was littered with fouls, as Brockport committed 27 and New Paltz tallied 24. Five yellow cards were given out, two of which were charged to the Golden Eagles.

Kyle Sauln (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) registered three saves and recorded his fifth shutout of the season. New Paltz goaltender Conor Power finished with four stops.
The Golden Eagles travel to Geneseo on Friday, Oct. 8 to face the Knights, who they are currently tied with for second in the SUNYAC.
