Sophomore receiver
Jake Spalik (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) earned
NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading The College at Brockport football team to a 28-20 NJAC win over nationally-ranked Kean University.
Spalik was responsible for three Brockport touchdowns in the win, finishing the game with six receptions for a season-high 118 yards and touchdowns catches of four and 26 yards apiece.
In the Golden Eagles other scoring drive Spalik brought down a 33-yard reception, making him an instrumental part of every Golden Eagles touchdown. The reigning NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Year also recorded a seven-yard touchdown pass while leading Brockport to its first win of the season.
Kean was ranked eighth in the
American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll, No. 10 in the
D3Football.com poll and was the top ranked team in the
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Lambert Meadowlands poll coming into the game.
Spalik currently ranks tied for fourth in the NJAC in receptions (5.0 per game). The sophomore receiver has 30 catches this season for 321 yards and two touchdowns.
