BOXSCORE
Katie Gildemeyer's (Baldwinsville, NY/ C.W. Baker) first goal of the season came in a critical game, but the goal came too late as The College of Brockport fell to Oswego by a 2-1 score in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate New York Championship match at the A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field Friday afternoon. The Golden Eagles finish the season with an 11-7-1 overall record.
After falling behind 2-0, Gildemeyer scored at the 77:41 mark to put Brockport within one.
Arielle Schneider (Plainview, NY/Plainview-Old Bethpage) took a direct kick from 30 yards out. The ball was misplayed by Oswego goalie Emily Varonier as Gildemeyer picked up the loose ball in the box and netted her first goal of the season. Schneider, who was recently named to the First-Team All-Conference team for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), recorded her second assist of the year.
The Golden Eagles fell behind Oswego early as Nikki Liadka put home an early goal. Liadka dribbled through three defenders before finding the back of the net at the 3:56 mark of the first half. Liadka also scored the Lakers' second goal in the second half, burying a long shot past
Erin Asquith (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) with just 17:11 to play. Liadka was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Both teams played to the level of their competition. In the first half, Brockport took seven shots to Oswego's eight. Varonier and Asquith each finished with four saves in the first half.
