Senior Desiree Fauvelle (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley) scored a team-leading eight points and fellow senior Rachel Csakany (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) grabbed nine rebounds for The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team but an early seven-point lead disappeared and Brockport fell 70-36 in the consolation bracket of the Wendy's College Classic.

Brockport (1-4) took an early 7-0 lead as Phoebe Byrnes (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) sank a 3-pointer six seconds into the game, Kelly Grinnell (Auburn, NY/Auburn) hit a layup and a jumper by Ellen Story (Catskill, NY/Catskill). The Golden Eagles retained the lead until the 11:46 point in the first half before Geneseo (3-2) battled back with a 9-0 run to take a 15-9 lead. The Knights held a 34-19 lead at the halftime intermission.

In the second half, Geneseo increased its lead with two early runs and maintained the advantage for the remainder of the game.

“We have been working on being more patient on offense,” said Csakany. “The conference games start Tuesday night and we need to bring the fire for those games.”

With 5:18 left in the contest, Csakany drained her first career 3-point shot. The senior finished with five points and her team-high nine rebounds. Byrnes added six points while Fauvelle led all Golden Eagle scorers with her eight points.
