MEET RESULTS
Senior Stephanie Powell (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) finished second overall in the hammer throw but her toss of 50.54 meters (165 feet, 10 inches) was her season best effort and eclipsed the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track provisional qualifying standard Sunday at the Brockport Invitational Track and Field Meet in Brockport.
The meet was scored as a series of dual meets for all the teams with The College at Brockport scoring six dual victories for both the men's and women's competitions. For the women, Brockport score a 142-28 win over Alfred State, a 144-10 victory over Finger Lakes Community College, a 123.50-49-50 win over Fredonia, a 117-48 win over Geneseo, a 137.50-21.50 win over Herkimer County Community College, a 134-22 win over Mohawk Valley Community College and a 96.50-87.50 victory over the University of Rochester.
For the men, Brockport scored a 149-31 win over Alfred State, a 155-28 win over Finger Lakes CC, a 120-61 win over Fredonia, a 112.50-75.50 win over Geneseo, a 149.50-25.50 win over Herkimer CC, 135-37 win over Mohawk Valley CC and a 109-83 win over the University of Rochester.
Senior Brittany Dodd (Livonia, NY/Webster Thomas) had a very good day with her personal best score in the hammer throw with a throw of 133' 2” to finish sixth, along with a first place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and was a member of the winning 4x100 relay for the Golden Eagles.
Two Brockport women qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships Sunday as junior Becky Fabbiano (Lockport, NY/Lockport) won the pole vault clearing a height of 10' 8” and sophomore Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) with a winning heave of 40' 10.5” in the shot put. Junior Amanda Sprague (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) won the 5000-meter run and senior Melissa Scorse (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) was the top finisher in the 100-meter dash.
On the men's side, senior Cameron Johnson (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) was second in the 400-meter hurdles and was a member of the first place and ECAC qualifying 4x100 relay and also anchored the winning 4x400 relay for the Golden Eagles.
Fellow senior Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) also scored in three events winning both the hammer and discus events and placing second in the shot put. Lund's winning hammer throw was an NCAA provisional qualifying distance for the second time this season.
Other top finishers for Brockport included senior Brad Frink (Canastota, NY/Canastota) who place fourth in the 1500-meter race, freshman Andrew Baker (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) who shaved nearly a full minute off his career-best time in the 3000-meter steeplechase to finish third, senior Matt Avery (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) who finished second with a good race in the 5000-meter run, sophomore Josh Coon (Brockport, NY/Brockport) won the 10,000-meter run and freshman Kurt Zeltwanger (Hornell, NY/Canisteo) who had a personal-best in the long jump of 20' 4 ¼” to finish third.
Sophomore Zach Ferrara (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) tied for first place in the pole vault with a 14' 11” jump which qualified him for the ECAC Championships.
