RESULTS
Senior Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) and sophomore Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) each won two events in the throws to lead The College at Brockport Outdoor Track & Field teams at the Geneseo Invitational meet Saturday in Geneseo.
Lund was the top finisher in the hammer throw and the discus with throws of 162 feet, 11 inches in the hammer and 146' 4” in the discus while Jones was victorious in the discus and the shot put with a winning throw of 121' 3” in the discus and a heave of 39' 5 ¾” in the shot put.
Lund was also second in the shot and Jones was fifth in the hammer for the Golden Eagles. On Monday, the State University of New York Athletic Conference honored Lund as its Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Additional event winners were senior Melissa Scorse (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) with a winning time of 12.53 seconds in the 100-meter dash, senior Khalil Jones (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) with his winning time of 10.82 in the 100-meter dash for the men and junior Becky Fabbiano (Lockport, NY/Lockport) with a winning jump of 10' 11 ¾” in the women's pole vault.
Brockport also received top-five finishes on the men's side from sophomore Josh Coon (Brockport, NY/Brockport) with a third-place finish in the 10,000-meter run, senior Brad Frink (Canastota, NY/Canastota) who was third in the 5,000-meter race, senior Dustin Colgan (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) with a second-place finish in the hammer throw and a fifth-place finish in the discus while sophomore Zach Ferrara (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) and senior Kevin Emley (Randolph, NY/Randolph) tied for fourth in the pole vault. Fifth-place finishers included freshman Nate Matthews (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) in the 1,500-meter race, junior Zach Hine (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside) in the 100-meter dash, senior Cameron Johnson (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) in the 400-meter hurdles and senior Matt Avery (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) in the 5,000-meter run.
Two relays also finished well for the Brockport men as the 4x100 relay with Jones, Eric Hine (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside), Zach Hine and Johnson took second and the 4x400 relay with junior Kevin Wartinger (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale), Matthews, Eric Hine and Johnson also took second.
For the women, Scores was third in the 200-meter dash, senior Brittany Streeter (Oneida, NY/Oneida) and junior Amanda Sprague (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) were second and third respectively in the 5,000-meter run, senior Stephanie Powell (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) and senior Stacey Gibbins (Eden, NY/Eden) were third, fourth respectively in the hammer throw while junior Jordan Lane (Batavia, NY/Batavia) and junior Maggie Needham (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) were third and fifth in the javelin, freshman Justine Ward (Gouverneur, NY/Gouverneur) was fourth in the high jump, freshman Kristine Hoover (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) was third in the shot put and Gibbins was third in the discus.
The women's 4x100 relay with senior Brittany Dodd (Livonia, NY/Webster Thomas), Scorse, freshman Alissa Kozakiewicz (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) and freshman Caitlin Moeller (Kingston, NY/Onteora) finished second.
