Women’s Soccer Drops Defensive Battle

Six-game unbeaten streak snapped on the road

Women's soccer had its six-game unbeaten streak snapped at Fredonia
BOXSCORE

The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team entered Saturday's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game with Fredonia riding a six-game unbeaten streak that included four shutouts. A Fredonia goal with 3:26 left in the second half ended that streak as the Blue Devils posted a 1-0 win at home.

Brockport (5-2-1 Overall, 1-1 SUNYAC) had scoring chances in the first half but were unable to find the back of the net. In the second half the Golden Eagles defense held Fredonia (3-5, 1-1) scoreless until the final minutes of the contest. Fredonia fired 32 shots in the game with a majority of them ending up high or wide of the net.

With less than four minutes remaining in the game, Fredonia's Reilly Condidorio split a pair of Brockport defenders at the top of the 18-yard box and fired a shot into the corner of the goal for the only score of the game.

“It was nice to come out of the weekend with at least one victory,” said head coach Joan Schockow after the Golden Eagles handed Buffalo State 2-1 loss Friday afternoon. “We were outplayed today but we have to recover and come back hard to get ready for New Paltz and Oneonta next weekend.”

The loss to Fredonia was the first since the season-opening loss to nationally-ranked Dickinson College.

Senior Erin Asquith (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) made eight saves for the Golden Eagles.
