BOXSCORE
Junior
Brian Duffy (Hilton, NY/Hilton) scored on a penalty kick just minutes before the end of the first half to tie the score at 1-1 but Oneonta scored twice in the second half to post a 3-1 victory Friday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Oneonta.
The Red Dragons (5-2-2 Overall, 2-0-1 SUNYAC) opened the scoring 30 minutes into the contest before Duffy converted the Brockport (5-3-1, 2-1-0) penalty kick in the 40th minute to tie the game as the teams went into the halftime intermission.
In the second half, Oneonta took a 2-1 lead with 27 minutes remaining scoring on a penalty kick and three minutes later scored again to take a 3-1 advantage. The third goal came off a failed Brockport free kick in the Oneonta zone as the Red Dragons cleared the ball and raced the length of the field to score in transition before the Brockport defenders could get back into position.
“The effort was there today,” said head coach
Gary LaPietra. “The effort was definitely there but we made a couple mistakes and they took advantage of them.”
Senior
Kyle Sauln (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) made three saves in the Brockport goal.
