The College at Brockport Volleyball team dropped a hard fought match in the second State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool Play to Oswego 3-1 Friday night. Brockport will take on host Fredonia tomorrow morning and Buffalo State later in the afternoon.
The Golden Eagles dropped the first set by the score of 25-20 but battled back to play a competitive second set. While Brockport dropped the second set 26-24, the team carried the momentum to take the third set convincingly 25-13. Brockport had a chance to pull even in the fourth set but fell in another close game 25-23.
Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) paced the Golden Eagles with a team-high 12 kills on the night. The sophomore also added 11 digs and two aces.
Chelsea Ross (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) led Brockport with 16 digs while
Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) each had six kills.
Hannalee Fordyce (Amityville, NY/Copiague) chipped in 10 kills and freshman
Liz Dates (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) had a team-high four aces.
Head coach Bethany Schlegel commended the Golden Eagles for the effort. “The team really played hard tonight” said Schlegel. “We definitely had our opportunities to push it to a fifth set but made some mistakes where it mattered most.”
Brockport will take on the Blue Devils at 11:00 am and will finish Pool Play action against the Bengals at 1:00 pm.
