The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team dropped its State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener to Oswego on Tuesday night, falling to the Lakers 53-37 at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium. Cecilia Sigrist (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit) led the way with 10 points and seven rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport kept the Lakers (5-0, 2-0) in check for the opening minutes of the game, but the Lakers put together a 14-0 run to pull away. The Golden Eagles made a late run in the second half, bringing the game to within ten, but Oswego was able to clamp down and held Brockport to two points over the final 3:45.

Ellen Story (Catskill, NY/Catskill) gave Brockport an early 4-3 lead at the 14:50 mark of the first half. That was the closest the Golden Eagles would come as Oswego kept Brockport scoreless for the next 6:23. Alexandra Marshall (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) hit a three to end the draught for Brockport as the Golden Eagles outscored Oswego 13-10 over the final 8:31. The Lakers went into halftime leading 28-17.

Both teams traded baskets early on in the second half as Sigrist scored the first five points after intermission for Brockport. Trailing 41-24, Kelly Grinnell (Auburn, NY/Auburn) hit a three-point basket followed by a layup to spark the Brockport offense. Story converted a jumper and Marshall connected on a pair of free throws to bring the game to within ten, but Oswego pulled away in the closing minutes.

Hannalee Fordyce (Amityville, NY/Copiague) recorded her second consecutive double-digit rebound performance, hauling in 10 on the night. Meg Stucko (Elba, NY/Elba) tied a career-high with nine boards on the night while chipping in four points.

The Golden Eagles will hit the road this weekend with a pair of SUNYAC matchups. Brockport will take on New Paltz on Friday at 6:00 pm followed by a date with Oneonta on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
