Rolle's Career Night Not Enough for Brockport

The junior had her second double-double of the season

Junior forward LaDonya Rolle (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) played a solid all-around game off the bench in a loss to Fredonia State Friday night as the Golden Eagles dropped the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest 75-63.

Rolle contributed a double-double, her second of the season. Rolle finished the game with 13 rebounds and 15 points, both career-highs. Cecilia Sigrist (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit) added 12 points and seven rebounds and Desiree Fauvelle (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley) chipped in 13 points.

Brockport got off to a solid start in the first half. Following a layup by Rolle, the Golden Eagles held a 15-11 advantage at the 12:14 mark. Fredonia took the lead back two minutes later, but Brockport stayed within striking distance. The Blue Devils led 36-29 with just over a minute remaining before Brockport rattled off the next six points to close out the half. The Golden Eagles trailed 36-35 heading into intermission.

Five Golden Eagles finished with at least five points in the first half as Rolle and Rachel Csakany (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) each finished the half with seven. As a team, Brockport shot 45.2 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes.

The Blue Devils came out in the second half on a 14-5 run to take control of the game. Rolle sank two free throws with just over 11 minutes to play to bring Brockport back to within six, 54-48, but the Golden Eagles never got closer than that for the remainder of the game.

The Golden Eagles out-rebounded Fredonia State 44-39 for the game. The 44 rebounds are tied for the second most this season. Brockport connected on 24 field goals, also tied for the second most this season. Kelly Grinnell (Auburn, NY/Auburn) contributed a career-high six assists.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday with a 2:00 matchup at Buffalo State.
