RESULTS
Senior Becky Fabbiano (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and junior Nicole Jones (West Charleton, NY/Galway) each tied school records for The College at Brockport Indoor Track and Field teams as the Golden Eagles competed at the Robert Kane Open meet at Cornell University Saturday in Ithaca, NY.
Fabbiano tied the record in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, 3 and ¾ inches finishing fifth overall in the competition. Jones hit her record mark in the shot put with a heave of 41' 4 ¼” which was good enough to finish second overall. She also took fourth in the weight throw for Brockport.
Zach Ferrara (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) won the pole vault for the men with a height of 16' ¾” which is just the second time in school history that the 16' barrier has been eclipsed. Ferrara went past 16' setting the school record a week ago in Hamilton.
Other top finishers included Matt Avery (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) who finished third in the 3,000-meter race, Dustin Colgan (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) with a fifth place finish in the weight throw, Kevin Wartinger (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) took ninth place in the 400-meter dash and Nate Matthews (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) was ninth in the mile run and 12th in the 800-meters for Brockport.
On the women's side, the 4x400 meter relay with Kelly Burke (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa), Violet Yox (Brockport, NY/Brockport), Caitlin Moeller (Kingston, NY/Onteora) and Gina Medici (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) took fifth place overall while Yox also finished 8th in the 800 and Moeller took 8th in the 400. Megan Grace (Alleghany, NY/Alleghany-Limestone) was 10th in the 60 meters and 17th in the 200, Rachel Malone (Fairport, NY/Fairport) was took 7th in the mile, Kristine Hoover (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) was 6th in the shot put and Sarah Ritchie (Hilton, NY/Hilton) was 9th in the mile.
