Junior
Zach Ferrara (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) continued his dominance in the pole vault event throughout the early indoor track and field season for The College at Brockport, once again breaking his own school record in the event.
Caitlin Moeller (Kingston, NY/Onteora) led the way for the women's team by posting two ECAC qualifying times at the Hamilton College Invitational.
Ferrara, who broke his own school record last weekend at the Lake Erie College Open with a height of 15 ft. 11 inches, shattered the record with a mark of 16 ft. 3 ¼ inches at Hamilton. Ferrara came in first place, beating his second place opponent by nearly three feet. Ferrara's mark is good enough for third in the nation currently at 4.96-meters.
Christian Sparacino (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) came in third place in the pole vault with a height of 13 ft. 5 ¼ inches.
Moeller came in first place in the 500-meter dash to post the ECAC qualifying time of 1:21.82. Moeller was also part of the women's distance medley relay team that came in first place. Along with Moeller,
Sarah Ritchie (Hilton, NY/Hilton),
Kelly Burke (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa), and
Rachel Malone (Fairport, NY/Fairport) posted the ECAC qualifying time of 12:57.45
Also putting up impressive results at the meet for the men were
Kevin Wartinger (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale), putting up an ECAC qualifying time of 1:07.40 in the 500-meter dash, winning by just .23 of a second. In the men's four by 200 relay, Zach and
Eric Hine (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside),
Maurice May (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and
Zachary Brown (Brewerton, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) came in second place with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:32.55. Brown also finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.92 while
Nate Matthews (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) came in fourth at 53.16.
Matt Avery (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) came in third place in the 1000-meter dash.
Brockport took four of the top eight spots in the men's weight throw with
Dustin Colgan (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) finishing third and
Jon Mordoff (Vestal, NY/Vestal) finishing fourth.
Antoine Keels (Rochester, NY/East) came in second place in the shot put and third in the weight throw while Colgan finished third in the shot put, right ahead of Brandon Ganschow (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) who came in fourth.
Becky Fabbiano (Lockport, NY/Lockport) came in first place in the pole vault event with a height of 10 ft. 11 ¾ inches.
Jessie Sector (Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park) came in third place in the event at 10 ft. 6 inches.
In the women's weight throw,
Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) continued her strong start to the season with a first place finish in the shot put at a distance of 11.97 meters.
Kristine Hoover (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) came in third in the event while
Courtney White (Massena, NY/Massena) came in fifth and
Maggie Needham (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) came in sixth.
Jones also had a strong showing in the weight throw, coming in second place at Hamilton with a distance of 14.42 meters.
