Junior Zach Ferrara (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) set The College at Brockport school record in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.8 meters to win the event Saturday at the Roberts Wesleyan College Raider Open meet in Chili.
Ferrara who now owns both the indoor and outdoor records in the pole vault won the event with his record-breaking jump. It was just one of several winning performances for the Golden Eagles at the open meet.
Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) won both the shot put with a winning toss of 12.59 meters and the discus with a winning mark of 39.94 meters. Kevin Wartinger (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) was the top finisher in the 400-meter hurdles while Brendan Ganschow (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) won the shot put with a heave of 13.84 meters and Darius Favors (West Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland) took top honors in the discus for Brockport.
Rachel Malone (Fairport, NY/Fairport) was second in the 1500-meter run, Kristine Hoover (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) was second in the hammer throw and Becky Fabbiano (Lockport, NY/Lockport) took second in the pole vault.
