Brockport Places First in Seven Events

The College at Brockport Men's and Women's Track and Field teams captured seven first-place finishes and posted multiple Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying marks at the Rochester Spring Invitational at Fauver Stadium. Senior Dustin Colgan (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) continued to dominate in the field as he finished first in both the Discus and Hammer throws.

On the women's side, freshman Rachel Malone (Fairport, NY/Fairport) came in first place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:50.09, an ECAC qualifying time. Malone finished 28.47 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Malone placed first in the 1,500-meter run last week at Hamilton College. Senior Becky Fabbiano (Lockport, NY/Lockport) finished fourth in the pole vault event with a height of 3.25 meters (10' 7”).

Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) had a strong performance in the field for Brockport. Jones took first in the shot put event an ECAC mark of 12.13 meters (39' 9”). Jones also came in second in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 43.41 meters, just .01 meters (142' 5”). Jones finished just .01 meters off the first place finisher. As a team, Brockport took three of the top five spots in the Hammer Throw. Kristine Hoover (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) came in third at 41.63 meters (136' 6”) and Maggie Needham (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) finished fifth with a mark of 39.25 meters (128' 9”).

Freshman Courtney White (Massena, NY/Massena) came in first place in the Discus Throw with a toss of 39.66 meters (130' 1”), an ECAC qualifying mark.

As for the men, Zack Hine (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside) had another solid performance in the sprints. Hine finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.27 seconds and fourth in the 200-meter dash at 22.83 seconds. Hine, twin-brother Eric Hine (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside) Maurice May (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Zachary Brown (Brewerton, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) teamed up for a second place finish in the 4x100-meter relay with an ECAC-qualifying time of 43.24 seconds.

Colgan took first in the hammer throw at 52.96 meters (173' 9”) and second in the shot put at 13.97 meters (45' 10”) as Brendon Ganschow (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) took first place with  a score of 14.00 meters. Brockport took four of the top five spots in the discus, including Colgan's top finish of 41.91 meters (137' 6”). Antoine Keels (Rochester, NY/East), Jon Mordoff (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and John Bicocchi (Commack, NY/Commack) finished second, third, and fifth, respectively.

Nate Mathews (Frankfort, NY/Sauquoit Valley) was the top finisher in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.82 and Andrew Baker (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) finished third in the 5000-meter run.

Will Johnson took top honors in the Triple Jump at 13.33 meters (43' 8”).
