Box Score
Sophomore
Kevin Dorn (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hallow Hills East) scored his first goal of the season to give The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team a 1-0 victory over Buffalo State in the team's opening State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game. The Golden Eagles snap a five-game losing streak with the win.
Dorn provided the game's only goal less than five minutes into the match. Senior
Marc Orlando (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) split two defenders with a through ball to Dorn who chipped it over the outstretched arms of Buffalo State keeper Ian Huntoon for the game-winner. The goal was Dorn's fifth of his career while Orlando contributed his first assist of the year.
The Brockport defense buckled down for the next 85 minutes. The Golden Eagles fell victim to narrow losses in their last two games, including a 1-0 loss to Medaille and 2-0 loss to the No. 2 team in the country in St. Lawrence. Both wins for Brockport this season have been one goal games, while the Golden Eagles have also been a part of two one-goal losses this year. The defense limited Buffalo State to just eight shots while Brockport doubled that total with 16.
Freshman
Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) made his third consecutive start and earned his first career shutout. The rookie made two saves on the day.
Brockport travels to Fredonia tomorrow afternoon to take on the Blue Devils at 1:00 pm. The Blue Devils defeated Geneseo on Friday afternoon, 2-1, for its first SUNYAC victory of the year.
