Junior Katie Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) put The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team up 1-0 but the Oneonta Red Dragons bounced back to take a 3-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory. The loss was the first of the season for the Golden Eagles and snaps their eight game unbeaten streak.

Gildemeyer scored her third goal of the season in the 56th minute off a corner kick from Sarah Lawson (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East). The lead only lasted for 1:39 as Oneonta buried the equalizer at the 56:46 mark. The Red Dragons added two more goals to improve their conference record to 2-1 while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-1.

Brockport was outshot in both halves by the Red Dragons as Oneonta came out with a 15-7 overall advantage. Laura Thompson (Victor, NY/Victor) kept the Red Dragons scoreless in the first half where the sophomore made all four of her saves.

Oneonta netted its second goal of the game in the 72nd minute on a cross from the left side. 11 minutes later the Red Dragons built their lead to two goals with a shot from close-range.

The Golden Eagles were off to one of their best starts in recent history after not losing in their first eight games. Head coach Joan Schockow looked to move forward after the loss. “It's a tough loss but we have to look ahead to tomorrow's game and continue to play well.”

The Golden Eagles will take on the New Paltz Hawks tomorrow at 1:00 pm at New Paltz. The Hawks are 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC after a 1-0 victory over Geneseo on Friday.
