Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) scored the lone goal for The College at Brockport men's soccer team during at State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game against Cortland that ended in a 1-1 tie on Saturday afternoon.

DiLorenzo gave the Golden Eagles an early 1-0 lead with his goal on the 12th minute. After a Cortland foul in its offensive third, Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) lofted a long free kick into the box that DiLorenzo flicked with a header over Beauvais.

Brockport held onto the lead until Cortland scored in the 77th minute. Chris McBride possessed the ball on the left side of the box and slipped a pass to Robbie Reiser who spun and hit a low 16-yard shot through a screen that eluded a diving Sullivan for his second goal of the season.

Sullivan came up with a tremendous save with less than seven minutes remaining. Sullivan denied Darren McCromack's penalty kick to keep the game tied.

In overtime, both teams had opportunities to earn the win. Cortland had a shot that sailed just over the crossbar. 20 seconds later, Chris O'Gorman (Wading River, NY/ Shoreham-Wading River) took a shot from deep in the box but the Cortland goalkeeper made the diving save to keep things even.

The Golden Eagles won 5-4 in a penalty-kick tiebreaker and would earn a higher seed in the conference playoffs should the two teams tie in the standings.

Brockport finished the game with a 20-13 advantage in total shots, while Cortland held a slight 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday at home for a SUNYAC matchup against Plattsburgh at 3:00 pm.
