Golden Eagles drop one-goal game at Cortland

The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team had more shots and twice as many corner kicks but it was No. 2 seed Cortland advancing to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship game as the Red Dragons posted a 1-0 win Wednesday in Cortland over No. 3 seed Brockport.

Brockport (11-2-5) had 14 shots in the game with seven in each half compared to 12 shots by Cortland (11-6-1) as the Golden Eagles limited Cortland to just two shots in the second half. Brockport also had three corner kicks in each half as Cortland was awarded just three for the entire game.

The Red Dragons scored the only goal of the game late in the first half as the ball slipped past sophomore goalkeeper Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) and Cortland's Matt Williams tapped in the loose ball.

Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) led the team with three shots while Bobby Ross (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), Matthew Roorda (Rochester, NY/Aquinas), Ryan Phillips (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) and Chris O'Gorman (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) each had a pair of shots for the Golden Eagles.
