Katie Gildemeyer's (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) second half goal helped The College at Brockport women's soccer team overcome Buffalo State and earn a 1-0 SUNYAC victory on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams had opportunities to score in the first half, but neither could find the back of the net. Buffalo State had a few shots on goal in the beginning of the game, while Brockport gained control as the half went on.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Gildemeyer scored her fifth goal of the season and helped the Golden Eagles take the lead. Cayli Carmona (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) shot the ball and Gildemeyer was able to finish after a scramble in front of the net.

Brockport held onto the lead for the remainder of the game.

"It was great to see us battle back," said head coach Joan Schockow. "To get a win, in a big SUNYAC game and on the road was great for the girls."

The Golden Eagles finished the game with a 14-8 advantage in shots and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Laura Thompson (Victor, NY/Victor) earned her fourth shutout of the season and recorded two saves.

Brockport returns to action at home on Friday, October 4 at 4:00 pm for a SUNYAC matchup against New Paltz.
